News: Black Bed Sheets: a poem

a poem by Cassie, IWC China 2008 team member

there’s something about putting black sheets on a bed.
something dark but something bold.
when you’re used to all those teeny bopper colors
and then it’s just black.
plain. simple. bold. loud.

imagine a room.
solid bright green walls.
black bed.
larger than normal.
its a statement.

but is it for the better?
like most decisions.
you never know until after you make it.
i did not choose this queen bed, it was given.
i did not choose black, but it was bought.

i did not choose this life, but i live it.
and i live it inside this lovely little box.
i’m not daring, or risky.. even to the slightest degree.
i live in what some call a caution bubble
but for me, thats a statement in itself.
i live differently, because i have no reason to fit in.
if this world is not my home
and i am to stand out so that others can see a difference
and i want that difference.

china, an experience, different than most.
ask anyone else that went, they’d say it was marvelous
i’d say it was different.
bold. yes.
dark. theres a billion people that just don’t know.

maybe it’s not about the color or the risk factor.
maybe it’s just about making the difference, being different.
living a life with one goal.
one solitary ambition, to belong to Him, with all that i am.
