FOLLOW EAST ASIAN PEOPLES

A Season of Thanks

Ten ways to show your support

  1. Commit to Pray Commit to pray daily for the work of IMB workers and unreached people in East Asia. Order free hard copies of the 2012 East Asian Peoples Calendar at http://imbresources.org/index.cfm/product/list/catID/145/deptID/1 or download your own electronic copy from http://eastasianpeoples.imb.org/resources/ to help you as you pray (calendars are free, but shipping charges apply)
  2. Seek the Lord During the season of gift-giving, ask God to show you how much He would have you give in offerings to support IMB mission work overseas. If your Southern Baptist church does not have offering envelopes available especially for this offering, you may specially designate your offering to "Lottie Moon Christmas Offering." You are strongly encouraged to give your offering through your local church, but if you are unable to, you may also give online by going to http://imbresources.org/index.cfm/product/detail/prodID/256
  3. Be dramatic! Ten dramas/skits about Lottie Moon and the need for the offering are available for free download at http://www.imb.org/main/give/page.asp?StoryID=5537&LanguageID=1709 . Consider using some of these in the coming months as you promote the offering at your church.
  4. Get Resources Churches and individuals can download two different Lottie Moon videos from the Internet: "Keeping Lottie's legacy alive" (2:00) and "A Life of Significance" (2:50). Download from this website: http://www.imb.org/main/downloads/page.asp?StoryID=8660&LanguageID=1709
  5. Order a Portrait Order a life size portrait of Lottie Moon, put it on the wall of your church and use it to measure the progress of the offering during the month of December. Cost is $50 plus shipping costs. Order the portrait here: http://imbresources.org/index.cfm/product/detail/prodID/1899
  6. Download the Bulletin Some Southern Baptists don't know who Lottie Moon is! Free bulletin inserts/flyers that describe briefly who the veteran China missionary was and that focus on work among East Asian Peoples can be downloaded at http://eastasianpeoples.imb.org/downloads/LM2011Bulletin.pdf.zip.
  7. Bake some cookies Women's groups may want to bake some "Lottie's Cookies," a plain tea cake cookie, to promote the offering. The recipe can be found at http://eastasianpeoples.imb.org/downloads/recipe.pdf.zip
  8. Follow EAPAG Keep informed year-round about God's work among East Asian Peoples. Sign-up to receive monthly updates on the work in East Asia through two newsletters, the East Asia Update and Preachables. Your contact information will not be given to third parties, and you can unsubscribe at any time. To sign-up, please write: eastasianpeoples@pobox.com with your name, e-mail address, and the name and city of your home church.
  9. Encourage Field Personnel Do you know a missionary personally? Send him/her a note of encouragement by email during the Thanksgiving/Christmas season. (Some workers live where the Internet is slow, so please be careful not to send e-mails with attachments over 1 MB in size unless you check with the worker first and he/she agrees).
  10. Encourage Family Send a note to the parents or adult children of a missionary you know, encouraging them during the holiday season when their loved ones are not around to celebrate with them.

These are just 10 ideas to get your creative juices flowing; if you want more ideas for promoting the offering, please go to http://www.imb.org/main/give/lmw/story.asp?storyid=8079&languageid=1709
